Joshua is an honours graduate in Psychological Science. Current research, under the primary supervision of Dr Kirrilly Thompson, concerns the roles that the human/companion-animal bond plays in motivating early natural hazard preparedness by animal guardians in Australia. This focuses on the degree to which practical and theoretical conceptualisations of human-animal relationships might be used to reframe and target disaster risk and preparedness communications more effectively. Past research topics include links between guardian-pet interaction, psychological well-being, mood states, and daily activities, as well as self-deception/impression management, and attitudes towards the natural environment.
