Federico Casolari is Assistant Professor of International Law at the Department of Legal Studies of the University of Bologna, where he teaches European Union law. He is also visiting professor at the Institut d’Etudes Européennes of the Université Libre de Bruxelles and member of the Didactic Council of the Renzo Imbeni Summer School "Europe of Ideas". He obtained his PhD at the University of Bologna (2006). He is author of many publications on the relationship between International law and European Union law, EU constitutional principles and EU disaster response law. This latter topic has been the subject of a 2-year project, in which Federico Casolari has been involved, project which has led to the publication of the first comprehensive study on IDRL (International Disaster Response Law, Springer, 2012). In 2012 Federico Casolari received, together with other Italian colleagues a 3-year funding by the Italian Ministry of University and Research on IDRL (total amount of funding: 381.145 EUR). In 2012, he acted as Senior Legal Expert within the framework of the EU Project " Support to Judicial and Legal Reform in the Republic of Kazakhstan" (EuropeAid/128586/C/SER/KZ - Service contract 2009/200-051), and as Expert of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Programme "SMEs Governance and Development" (N:Aid.: 009424.01.5 Cap. Bil.: 2182/300). He is also member of the project “Data collection and research services on fundamental issues” (Procurement procedure F/SE/10/03), funded by the European Union Agency for fundamental rights; and of the Italian Society of International Law.
